QUESTION:
A long lasting vacuum cleaner.. pls help!?
I bought a brand new HITACHI vacuum cleaner less than a year ago and yesterday, it wont suck. There were problems before of over-heating, it shuts its self off and will not turn on untill 2-3 hours has passed, and it was only a mere 5 minutes of vacuuming when this happens. So instead of trying to get it repaired and my house terribly needs vacuuming, we need a new vac.
Im living in MALAYSIA atm, meaning no MIELE, DIRT DEVIL, HOOVER.
We have SAMSUNG, LG, HITACHI, PANASONIC, BOSCH, ELECTROLUX, PHILIPS. although i am not a fan of Korean Brands so Samsung and LG is out. DYSON is too expensive here.I do have some allergies, and i don't want to spend much on bags (here, dirt bags are expensive and limited in stores nearby), so bagless vacuum is ideal.
It needs to suck good/better than decent, and has good life-span because our neighbours electrolux lasted 18 years and just broke down. But i just want a range, and dont know if today's electrolux is as powerful as before. Oh, and its a canister, no upright.
Thankyou

ANSWER:
I don't know if Kirby is available where you are, but that's my go to vacuum. I have never had any luck with any of the cheaper brands. We bought our first one soon after we got married, 35 years ago. I had it rebuilt once, but shipping is so high to send it to the company, that I look for vacuums on Ebay to use as parts. I bought a couple more Kirby vacuums at local auctions, so I have one for downstairs and one for upstairs. They are very heavy. Our original one got passed on to our son. Electrolux is also a good vacuum, but you may want to find a good older one, since nothing seems to be made to last these days. Same with a Kirby, unless you are willing to part with upwards of 00.

QUESTION:
Dropped Samsung Mythic in water?
Yesterday evening I dropped my Samsung Mythic in water, it was only in there for about 5 seconds, as soon as I took it out I took the battery out and cleaned it then I unfortunately blow dried it, I let it air dry for a while and then turned it on, it was working fine then the touch screen stopped responding, when I get a new text or call I can't respond I cannot navigate the phone at all, I put it in rice over night, and the touch screen still isn't responding, it's charging fine turning on, the sticker on the back is still white however the touch screen isn't working and without that I have no phone, the phone is sitting in rice right Now, do you think the phone will ever work again?? On Wikihow it said to use a vacuum cleaner the suction part and try to suck all of the water out I did that this morning.... Someone please help!!! It's no longer warranty, and the only way to get a new phone is to buy one full price!!-

QUESTION:
Monitor gets static interference from External Harddrive??
Hello all I am not a complete computer noob but this problem has me at my wit's end. I put my 200GB samsung SATA harddrive into an external case and hooked it up to my laptop via USB. It works fine except that as soon as the USB plug touches the socket, my CRT monitor (not my LCD one) starts going frizzy, like some TV sets do when you use a vacuum cleaner/lawn mower near it. How do I fix this??
Sorry but all your answers won't really work for me, as the inteference is only introduced through the USB cable (not by proximity of the drive to the CRT monitor), and changing the cable doesn't change it either. Thanks tak in hong, but can someone tell me what is and how can I get a ferrite wire and where should I put it...thanks!
Adam C, always plugged in.
sorry for the typo, it's "ferrite core", not ferrite wire. It's that thumb-sized thing you clip around wires, isn't it? I'll try that out!
Hardware guy, I've already mentioned the monitor does not recieve interference through proximity, but through the USB cable, laptop, and into the VGA cable. Unplugging the external harddrive from the laptop while still on completely eliminates the interference.I have an idea what's going on already - I use a video signal converter to play both my PS2 and laptop on the same monitor.Somehow this thing is picking up the interference. Going direct from the monitor to the laptop with a single VGA cable eliminates this problem. But it is not a good solution, as I would have to constantly rearrage the cables so that my PS2 can signal the monitor again.
Any guesses whether replacing the VGA cable connecting the laptop and the corrector with an S-video cable might work? (I know I can do this)
Sorry, converter, not corrector ^-
ANSWER:
try to install a ferrite core on the wire and see if the problem improve

QUESTION:
Flat screen Advice, LED or LCD?
so I'm in the market for a new flat screen, 46" is the size needed, now two options particularly had me interested:Sony Bravia X series, the look is a killer and so is the quality in my humble eyes the 46" model that I saw was around 5K
Samsung 6 series 46" LCD
Samsung 6 series 46" LED which the price was about 3.6K IIRC
now, the thing is, I see LEDs, the thin look is great, the quality also, energy efficient etc...
it's only that... the last flat screen I bought was a 42" Samsung Plasma, and in my humble opinion, it sucked ass worse the a heavy duty vacuum cleaner... it's a great heater though, keeps the entire room warm during winter... the screen burnt VERY fast because I "needed" to watch something on 4:3 ratio(long story, don't ask), and now we have a burn mark on 4:3, 14:9 area and when you watch something in 16:10, you can see those lines which are a reminder of failure purchase, so while I know LED solved THOSE problems, the fact is, I'm kinda reluctant to try new technology and wanted to ask you guys, should I go with the proven and all around well LCDs or the LEDs worth it? and how about sony X series, I know it's a damn good screen but it sure feels a little expensive...
thanks in advance for the help guys...
-
ANSWER:
You should've gotten a Panasonic Plasma! You wouldn't have had those problems! They don't burn in and they're the most energy efficient Plasma's!LED LCD's and Plasma TVs have similar contrast ratios(black levels). However...Plasma still has the advantage in the pic quality aspect because they have a near instant response time of .001ms which is 2,000 times faster then the best LED! Plus...Plasma's have 600hz refresh rates! These two aspects make Plasma's the best at motion sharpness and smoothness with fast motion content like sports, movies & gaming!
The only advantage that LED LCDs have over Plasma TVs is energy consumption! About 40% less then Plasma's and standard LCD's! However...if you factor in LEDs wallet busting prices, you would have to own and operate the LED TVs for about 10-12 years before you would make up the difference in price premium to energy savings!
If you ask me, LEDs are still not worth there price premium! Plasma TV's offer a much better pic quality for a lot less money! And Panasonic Plasma TVs are the most reliable that i've ever seen!
Here is my recommendation for you:
Panasonic 46" 1080p(TC-P46S1): http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9317269&type=product&id=1218084030037

QUESTION:
Volume is suddenly quieter after I reinstalled Windows 7.?
HiNow, I am no dumb ass when it comes to computers, but I have had a problem lately that has had a huge impact on my music addiction LOL.
Now, I reinstalled Windows 7 *ultimate* due to a security glitch in the previous instalment.
I have checked the sound properties, all of the speaker properties including the "levels" tab which is basically just the volume control at bottom right of screen. My headphones and speakers are both around 35% quieter.I have installed all latest sound drivers for my sound card. I never had a problem with the audio from the last instalment of Windows 7.
I have checked the speaker ports AND the headphone ports, both are free from dust and are not broken on any terminals. I did clean out the computer using a vacuum cleaner and some air duster *air in a can*. Now, the clean out was before I reinstalled Windows and the sound worked great.
The reason I want my sound output at the max is because I LOVE music, I can't do without it at some points and I will never leave the house without my iPod. Now, I know its not my ears because my iPod works great and so does my phone, but both ipod and phone ARE louder than the computer which is just......wrong.
I hope you guys can help but I have done all I can. I know the motherboard has built in sound, but they are also very quiet.
I have installed these device drivers recently:
Motherboard
Graphics Card
Sound Card
DVD Drive (yes, Samsung DVD Drives require drivers). Thanks for reading, hope to hear something eventually.

ANSWER:
Mmm there is something awry here for sure.Firstly (And I suspect this has something to do with it) you should NEVER have to reinstall your operating system because of a 'security glitch'! And this is the only thing you are not describing in any detail.
What 'security glitch' are you talking about?
Why did you re-install the whole OS rather than correcting the issue?
How did you do the re-install
Are you running a genuine copy? (You don't have to answer that, I only make you aware that many bootleg copies or loaders contain a virus of some sort)
All these points matter to find a solution!Secondly: "35% quieter" How are you measuring that? 35% can be a whole lot OR very little depending on the base Db's you are judging from ie at or near to 'max' vol 35% is barely if at all distinguishable, but from 'only just hear it' a great deal.
But constant loud noise WILL DAMAGE your hearing! FACT! (I know mine are! Heavy engineering and too much front of stage! lol)Thirdly: how are your speakersheadphones connected? Directly to the on-board sound card? Via a 5.1 or other type system?
Fourthly: You want your sound ay 'the max'?? How can anyone listen to that? The amount of distortion would cancel out any 'decent' sound output. ALL amps distort, especially at 'max' settings, cheap computer systems will produce around 75% distortion (un-listenable), even ,000 ones! So at 'max'? If you have run your setup at 'Max' for any amount of time you will have seriously damaged the components, from sound card to speakers! So maybe there is your problem.
Without criticizing you, you are defiantly NOT a lover of music, just loud 'noise' (I like both, at the right times).
By the way your Samsung drive does not 'need' drivers you just don't get the extra features without them. Use a software player like 'media player classic' or 'VLC' and they will decodeplay from the sammy.
Back to your problem. You 're-installed' win7 and the problem started then. I would be 90% certain there is your problem.
Maybe the OS did not install properlyfully (has been known many times).
Maybe your 'security glitch' exists in some form or another, eg re-installing an OS will NOT necessarily removeover-write a viruspiece of spyware. Re-formatting the drive is no guarantee either! A good (nasty) rootkit virus can even rewrite the firmwarebios on your cardsboards etc!The other 10% is you have damaged your hardware and it has only surfaced since your re-install, ie coincidence.
1. Make absolutely sure ALL the software AND drivers you are installing are bug free.
Do a 'High Level Format' of your hard-drive ie FULLY WIPE the drive including the boot sector (MBR see:http://antivirus.about.com/od/securitytips/a/bootsectorvirus.htm). Google it and find the correct software and instructions, it will be done a 'command line' program lie DOS, Try 'Herens Boot CD or maybe 'Hawkpe', loads of utilities on them, but make sure you get a CLEAN copy (torrent)Ensure you have all the correct drivers to hand, including the MBs 'chipset drivers!
Re-install the OS, install the drivers (in the CORRECT ORDER, chipset first!)
Plug a simple pair of active speakers into the PC and see how you go but NEVER run at 'MAX'.As a rule I always suggest 75% as max (But so much depends of the equipment and at what stage you are altering the output, pre-ampmixer stage or main amp stage)One last comment (I've written a bl**dy essay here lol) the comment on using a vacuum cleaner and static is very valid, beware!)

QUESTION:
Dropped my cell phone in water >.
Everyone's done it! So what happened is...I was in the bathroom, and my cellphone(Virgin Mobile Samsung Intercept Android Phone) was in my back pocket...well the phone flipped back into the toilet, hadn't used the toilet yet!, the phone was on. I ripped it out of the toilet as fast as possible, I think it was submerged for like a second. The screen was dark at the bottom like water was inside the display section. I pulled out the battery, the little white square was pink. I pulled out the little Sandisk thing out as well. I dried it with a towel and the bottom of my t-shirt. I flipped it open (the phone and keyboard), and any compartments are open. I used a vacuum cleaner (definitely not a hairdryer or oven) and sucked out any water remaining in the phone's flip section and battery compartment. I haven't dared turn on the phone yet. Should I submerge the phone in rice now like everybody says? What should I do? :/-
ANSWER:
You need to try Silica Gel Packets to dry out your phone. There was a good article on associatedcontent.com that explains how to dry a wet cell phone, iPods, or any electronics. You need to place your cell phone in a zip lock bag with Silica Gel Packets. Silica Gel will remove all the moisture from the phone and its components, something air drying will not do!
Just Google "Silica Gel Packets" and you will find several companies selling these products. There is also a web site called: http://www.SilicaGelPackets.com that has them.

QUESTION:
Problem after refilling toner?
I have a Samsung ML 2851 duplex laser printer and I have just refilled it . This cartridge is the original one that came with the printer and I have never refilled it before. After refilling it appears that the prints are a little smudged and have white spots on it. (Ie in an area that is supposed to be completely black it has a bit of white dots and as well tiny smudging in text). However, this ONLY occurs on one side of the page and not the other. As I mentioned before, this printer is duplex so the first page is 100% fine (no smudges) but the second page where it duplexes, it has the smudging issue.I've printed 2 separate pages (without duplex function) and both pages are perfect. This smudging issue only occurs with the duplex page. I've printed around 70 pages and it still has this problem. One cause for this problem is that I did overfill by accident, but this would affect both pages, not one. I also use a vacuum to clean any toner that was spilled out.
@T-Bar: You mentioned ink but I'm using toner?-

QUESTION:
refrigerator freezer not working properly please help.?
ok i have a 4 year old samsung refrigerator and for a month or two the compressor cooling fan was making a squeaking noise but it is spinning, the problem now is the compressor stop running and the freezer side stop cooling,i pull it out vacuum the coils clean it up pretty good and hit the compartment where the electrical board is with the palm of my hand and the compressor kicks in for sometimes 4 to 8 hours sometimes even longer and freezer start cooling again then i have to do it all over again,i wonder if someone knows what could that be?-
ANSWER:
If rapping it starts it then it is mechanical. Most likely a sticking compressor relay on the control board.A mechanical, not electronic, thermostat will do the same thing. If you have a regular knob for the thermostat I would try to tapping that. But if you have a control board as you indicate then you likely have a board for the temperature as well.
Most likely needs a new board.
Good Luck.

An accident with the printer...?
Umm, so I was taking the toner cartridge out of our Samsung multifunction printer and accidentally knocked the waste toner cartage out onto the carpet. There is a big patch of black dust on the carpet and am starting to freak out!!!how do I clean it up? if I just vacuum it wont the dust by so fine it will bypass the filter come out the other end
Can I use water?
HELP

Use a vacuum cleaner but do not use the carpet roller part. Use the hose part and hover over the toner. Do NOT rub the toner. Try not to use water. Avoid rubbing the toner or touching it with your hand as this can activate it and cause it to stick.
